It is installed inside a water source (like a well, tank, or pond) to perform two critical tasks:
Prevent Backflow (Check Valve): It allows water to flow up into the pump but prevents the column of water from draining back into the source when the pump is turned off.
Maintain Prime: By stopping backflow, it keeps the suction pipe full of water, ensuring the pump is always primed and ready to run, which prevents dry-running and pump damage.
"Plastic" & "Green": It is typically made from durable, lightweight, and chemical-resistant Polypropylene (PP) or PVC. The green color is simply a manufacturer's standard for their product line.
"Threaded": This indicates the connection point on the valve's outlet features screw threads (e.g., BSP or NPT) for a secure, easy, and sealed connection to the pump's suction piping.
